You can get discounted flight tickets for students if
you know where to look. When I decided to take a year
out of College to travel to Asia and beyond and made the
big mistake of going down to the nearest travel shop on
the high street. You know the ones I mean where you can
book anything from a fly drive holiday in Orlando,
Florida to a weekend in Las Vegas. This places are great
if that what you want but when they gave me a quote for
my travel schedule I nearly feel off my seat. I almost
forgot to ask for my student discount, not that it would
have effected the high price anyway. The funny thing was
they did not even offer discounts for students so I was
obviously in the wrong place.
My nest port of call was the local Yellow pages and
business directory telephone book. Now this was more
like it because there was actually flight centres that
did not offer any form of accommodation. They was just
specialists on flights which was all that I wanted to
buy. I did notice that non of the advertisers mentioned
anything about discounts for flight tickets for
students, so I decided to call around and see why?
The facts are that there are only a select number of
travel shops and businesses that can offer discounts for
students air travellers because they are subsidized by
the Government. They are reimbursed for the discount so
they are never out of pocket. This was fine so I need to
just call around to try and find about where these
flight centres was. One of them was connected to the
local Youth Hostel Association and they was able to give
me some excellent guidance and a quote for my journey
including my discount. But the problem was they was a
not a dedicated flight centre. They put me in touch with
another Company on the high street that was in a
position to offer me everything I needed.
It was
becoming quite clear however that not all flights and
schedules offered flight tickets for students at a
discount price. Of the route was busy or if there was
only two flights a week then there was no chance of
getting the discount. I wanted to book eight flights in
all and I was only able to secure a student discount on
four of them because of my flight schedule. I did not
want to change my travel plans just to save a few
dollars so bit the bullet and was happy with a little
savings as a thank you for being s student. So if you
are looking for cheap flight tickets for students just
try and be a little flexible with your travel plan
because not all carriers will entertain you.
