Many flight passengers think that booking cheap flights
last minute deals is easy but this as far from the
reality of the situation. Scheduled airline routes do
not like to give additional discounts to passengers
because they have already done this when the flights
were first released. The problem when taking advantage
of these discounts is that you have to be in a position
where you can book well in advance which is not always
convenient for a number of reasons.
Scheduled airlines do not have a problem with giving
away a small number of cheap flight tickets when they
are first released. They can use these discounts as
advertising incentives and you may have already seen
these on billboards and on television advertisements and
other forms of media. This makes good business sense
because it provides essential positive exposure to the
airlines. People viewing the advertisements will
remembers the price and the airline and will mentally
combine the two together. The facts are that there has
to be a small number of discounted seats available on
these flights otherwise the airlines would be breaking
the law by offering incentives that do not exist. So
getting airfare discounts early is one thing but what
about cheap flights with last minute deals?
As the airlines have already given discount seat
tickets away then do not like having to do it again
unless they have a specific reason for doing so. One of
these scenarios would be if the bookings for a
particular flights have been poor. This could be because
of an early or late flying time for example. Passengers
like to fly in comfort and that is why the most popular
flights are always in the late morning, afternoon and
early evening. So flights outside these times will
always be less popular.
The airlines are a business and they need to make a
profit for the shareholders so there will be times when
they will have no choice but to sell cheap flights at
the last minute just to fill the majority of the empty
seats. They will still make a small profit on the seat
plus they get the extra revenue from in-flight sales.
This is one of the reasons why you can get cheaper
flight tickets during the inconvenient flying times.
Cheaper flights at the last minute are possible though
you do need a little bit of luck because the airlines do
not like to give discounts away lightly, especially for
last minute flights.
