There has been a huge expansion on long haul routes so
cheap International fl
ights
to Asia are always possible though you may struggle to
get discounted flights in peak periods such as Chinese
New Year. Try and be as flexible as possible with your
travel plans, it is only when you have strict travel
arrangements that cheaper flights are a problem.
It does not matter if you have a favorite airline
such as Cathay Pacific. Getting flight discounts means
you have to compromise sometimes and look at other
alternatives. When I mean alternatives I mean different
airlines, routes, schedules and even Airports in some
cases. Although most of the World's biggest aircraft can
fly the long haul with no stop-overs you may find it
financially beneficial to do so in many cases. But it is
not just about saving money, it's about taking advantage
of situations on the route that can make your journey a
lot more comfortable.
An example of this was when I needed to fly from the
UK to the Philippines. I have previously booked cheap
International flights to Asia with KLM via Amsterdam and
Lufthansa via Frankfurt. Both of these are good flights
and you can get some reasonable savings. But I
discovered that if I was to fly to Dubai with Emirates
on a specific schedule I would get a free night in a
Dubai Airport hotel for free. There was only specific
flights that allowed this and it really made the journey
very pleasant. The flight from Manchester was 8-hours
and because I arrived into Dubai late in the evening
they put me in the hotel where I could relax and shower
and get a good night sleep.
The flight connection was early the next morning and
because I had no baggage to check in I only had to get
there 1-hour before. This means that I had another long
journey to Manila but I felt so much better because that
stop over in a very pleasant hotel reinvigorated me. If
I would have booked into the flight independently it
would have cost me around $100 so it worked out as a
real treat. The cost of the Emirates flight was no more
than the ones from KLM or Lufthansa. OK it made the
journey a little longer but I arrived in Manila very
refreshed after a good nights sleep.
It just goes to show that you can not only get cheap
International flights to Asia, but you can also get some
interesting free hotel deals along the way. I think it's
the ideal way to fly long haul because it breaks up the
journey so you arrive at your destination with minimum
jetlag and ready to enjoy the journey ahead.
