It is still possible to get dirt cheap flights even
though the cost of fuel has risen and the airlines are
putting their prices up. The trick with getting
discounted air travel is to be as flexible as possible
with your travel plans. Having a set travel itinery is
not going to do you any favours when you start searching
for the cheapest flight tickets. Sometimes you have to
make some compromise along the way and this means you
may have to put up with a little inconvenience but I
think this is all part of the fun in getting cheaper
flights.
Just because the airlines maybe increasing prices and
cutting some schedules from their timetable does not
mean that they are not any flight bargains available.
You may have to try and little harder than before but
dirt cheap flight tickets are available everyday of the
week. Schedule flights are a prime example of this. They
run their business where they will gladly give
discounted flight tickets away providing you book early
enough. This means that they can sell most of the
flights seats on any schedule because they have been on
the market for the last 6-months. If there was any seats
left over they was always a problem to get these
discounted because it was the airlines policy to reward
to early bird buyers, not the last minute bargain
hunter.
But I have noticed in recent weeks that I have been
getting an increase in emails from the major airlines
offering cheap flights on schedules that have been on
the market for many months. Obviously the sales have
been slow and they have decided to take some drastic
action to avoid a problem nearer the flight date when
there would be many empty seats available. We all know
there is no profit in an empty seat so the airlines are
having to bite the bullet and letting the more and more
flight seats go for a discount into the system. So the
rules have changed somewhat, where before the best
bargains could only be had by buying well in advance you
can now get dirt cheap flights nearer the flight time.
The perfect situation is if you are flexible with
your travel times. This may mean having to travel on a
midweek day such as Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday which
has always been the less popular days to travel. The
same applies to flight times, you will always find more
available seats at a discount on the less popular flying
times. These are very early morning departures and late
evening arrivals. If you do not mind a little
inconvenience you can get some great flight ticket
prices. Flexibility has always been the key to cheaper
airfares and none more so in today's climate where the
cheaper flight tickets are coming onto the market in
mid-phase from the dates the were on sale. Something
that did not happen very often before.
