Airlines are in business to make money so trying to find
cheap airline tickets is not always straight forward.
Looking back over the years I have probably overpaid for
flight tickets at some point or other. I have always
been one of those people who like to get a bargain. I
don't know what it is but I get a sense of satisfaction
when I am sat on a flight knowing that the person sat
next to me has probably paid more for their ticket.
Maybe they don't mind paying the standard price of a
little over the odds, but I do!
It all started for me in my backpacking days. I have
been through all the maps looking for places I would
like to travel to but could never make up my mind. Money
was tight so I did my fare share of reading books and
magazines on how to travel on a tight budget. After
getting some great tips from these publications I
decided to cancel most of my flights except my original
departure. I was looking for cheap airline tickets and
thought I could get them as I travelled instead of
booking up all the flights at the same time. This was a
masterstroke as it turned out because it soon became
apparent that there are many cities in the World that
are a cheap flight haven.
I was always confident that I would get a better deal
no matter where I went in the World. If I was flying
from Thailand to Vietnam then the cheapest place to get
this ticket was in Thailand, not in London many months
earlier. You have to have a little faith in your
convictions when you do this but I was never worried
that things would never work out as planned. It was a
basic rule that I adhered to 20-years ago and I still
practice it today. It did matter where I was flying
from, the cheap airline flight technique was the same.
If you booked flights in advance from a third country
then they would always be more expensive.
Time and time again it worked, Bali to Sydney was
another bargain. If I would have booked this in the UK
it would have cost me 30% more. I then booked a flight
to New Zealand from Sydney the same scenario. There are
so many flights shops around the World's major cities
you just could not fail to get cheaper airfare as long
as you booked the flights in the specialist flight
bucket shops. Backpackers hostels are a great place to
find them. You will never find them on the high street.
They always seem to trade behind desks in marketplaces
or they rent a small office in a back street building.
So if you are doing multiple stopover's in various
countries then my advice is if you are looking to buy
cheap airline tickets is to buy them as you go.
Depending on how many countries you are going to visit
you can save a fortune on your airfare tickets.
